Hi everyone.
I found that after publishing several pages and photos that some of the pix were not loading. I think it was because I was uploading files that were too large so I deleted those and then took screenshots of the photos using Microsoft's built in tool called Snipping Tool. This reduces the pix from 1.2Mb to about 50k-150k depending on the photo. They load much quicker now. Enjoy.

Updates on their way
There are plenty of websites featuring great Tasmanian places to visit such as this one: Tasmania
What I am doing is showing you some personal pix of places we have been with a brief write up and some other facts that you might find interesting.
Now that I have managed to figure out how to blog with a bit more skill I am going through a few photos and will be adding these to the blog. As I get even better I will amend the existing pages with even better content.
I hope you enjoy the site and if you have any comments or suggestions or even questions shoot them my way!
We love old churches and graveyards so I plan to put together a special page dedicated just for that. Below is a typical example. If you have a look at my New Norfolk Page you will see a grave with a plaque dedicated to a person that came over on the first free fleet.
Enjoy.

Journey from Perth to Hobart
When we were planning to travel from Perth to Hobart we spent a lot of time researching other people's experiences. We wanted to know where to stay and the approximate cost to travel to Hobart via car. Of course we looked at all the options such as send the car by train and fly to Melbourne and such. In the end we decided to drive ourselves.
What the heck - we wanted to make a journey of it and we had never driven across the Nullarbor!
This was the plan:
The journey took 3 days and 2 nights [we stayed in accommodation]. The fuel cost us $672.70 and accommodation cost us a total of $220. The ferry including the car cost an additional $350 or so I think. We only stopped when we needed petrol/food. From Perth to Hobart we covered more than 3500 kilometres and bear in mind we did not wander from the planned route. We did not have a trailer.
Day 1: Perth to SA boarder.
We packed up the Suzuki Grand Vitara [4 cylinder petrol] the night before we left. Then on Saturday morning at 0430 we were on the read and heading to the WA/SA boarder. The roads were clear of animals and we only saw a few emus and kangaroos along the way. It was dark by the time we got the boarder and were actually driving in the dark for well over an hour. During that time we did see most of the animals and we slowed down to be safe. To avoid boredom we were listen to a book on CD. We stayed at the Boarder Hotel and it cost us $120. the room was quite good and we enjoyed the hot shower.
Day 2: SA boarder to Mount Barker SA.
We got up early grabbed some breakfast and hit the road. We drove through SA to Mount Barker and stayed at a caravan park with unit accommodation. The roads were quite good and rarely had to pass other vehicles.
Day 3: Mount Barker SA to Victoria.
We got up early then drove all the way to the wharf area to catch the ferry to Tasmania. We arrived at about 3:00PM so we had plenty of time to relax before driving onto the ferry.
The ferry travel at night and in the morning were able drive off and make our way to Hobart.
Well I didn't go into too much detail but if you want some additional information send me a message.
